Baptism
From Death to Life! Water Baptism is an outward expression of an inner decision to follow Jesus! It isn’t what saves us, but rather it’s a moment of celebration as you share with your church family in declaring your decision to follow Him!

Baptism is a symbol. It represents an outward expression of an inner transformation. Just like a wedding ring symbolizes marriage, baptism symbolizes a person's commitment to Jesus. A wedding ring is not a marriage itself but a sign that you are married. Similarly, baptism is a sign that someone has decided to follow Jesus. The water in baptism symbolizes Jesus washing away sins. When someone is baptized, it shows that they have asked Jesus for forgiveness and have been cleansed of their sins. The act of being immersed in water and coming back up signifies this cleansing and renewal. The water itself isn't special, but the act of baptism is a meaningful and special moment.

In the Bible, before Jesus began his ministry, John the Baptist paved the way by preaching repentance and baptizing people in preparation for them to know Jesus. Jesus, though sinless, was baptized by John to set an example of obedience and dedication to God. Even though Jesus had no sin to confess, his baptism showed his commitment to God's plan. Later, in Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commanded his followers to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thus, baptism signifies obedience to Jesus' command and serves as a public declaration of one's faith.

When you're baptized, you'll enter a specially prepared tank filled with warm water, located in the lobby. You'll be guided to sit comfortably in the tank, where you'll have an opportunity to share why you've chosen to be baptized—often expressing love for Jesus and a desire for others to know about your faith. Then, with support from a pastor, you'll be gently lowered into the water and raised back up, symbolizing your spiritual renewal and commitment to following Jesus. Afterward, you can change into dry clothes and celebrate with your family and friends who will be there to cheer you on!
